About the institute

The Confucius Institute at the University of Graz is a cross-university and cross-faculty joint venture project in education and represents a central cooperation platform for teaching, research, culture, talent development and business in relation to China.

MISSION

The Confucius Institute Graz offers the opportunity to bundle all activities related to China at the University of Graz, to position them prominently and sustainably and to make them known to a broad public.

Bridge building and research initiation, platform and hub for cooperation between universities, research institutions and companies from Austria/Europe and China (establishment of five centers within Styria)
Topic-specific research work and research diversity such as literature translations and comparisons, publications, pioneers in online language teaching
Preparation of textbooks and specialized didactics
"Confucius Prize" for dissertations related to China

Cultural courses lasting several hours to raise awareness of Chinese culture (calligraphy, majiang, Chinese painting, go, cooking, tai ji, daoyin, etc.)
Creating a platform for dialogue between Austrians and Chinese through major events to promote cultural exchange (New Year's Festival, Moon Festival, Dragon Boat Festival)
