Home Edition

HSK, HSKK and YCT exams are organized and conducted by the Language Cooperation Center around the world. They are international standardized Chinese language proficiency tests set up for non-native Chinese speakers to provide Chinese learners with scientific and effective Chinese language proficiency certification. Due to the global pandemic, Chinese Testing International Co., Ltd. launched the online "Home Editions" in April 2020, with the aim of enabling learners to continue to study abroad, graduate and apply for jobs as planned.

The exam must take place in a quiet, safe and closed room and must not be taken in public places (e.g. parks, internet cafés, restaurants, etc.). Laptop/PC, screen and keyboards must be placed visibly on the table.
No one may enter the room during the examination and no prohibited items (paper, writing utensils, cameras) may be left in the room. If this regulation is violated, the examination result is invalid.

2.1 Laptop/PC: with Windows operating system (7/8/10), screen resolution of 1440x900 is recommended, minimum requirement: 1366x768. Devices with Apple operating systems are not compatible. Tests cannot be carried out on smartphones and tablets. 2.2 Software: Please install the online Chinese test app on your computer. You will receive the download link to the app by email after successful registration.
2.3 Internet: Minimum requirement: 150KBs, broadband 20M. A speed test can be performed after installing the above software. If the minimum speed is not reached, you should refrain from taking the test.
2.4 In addition, you will need a mobile device (tablet or smartphone) with internet access and a camera.
2.5 Camera(s): Ensure good lighting for a clear picture and that the cameras are working properly.
2.5.1 If the PC is equipped with an integrated HD camera, this can be used. Otherwise, use an external HD camera (at least 300,000 pixels).
2.5.2 For the use of the mobile device, you will receive a link from us to the designated uniMEET online conference room, via which your exam supervisor will be connected to you for the duration of the preparations and the exam.
2.6 Headset/headphones/microphone: check the functionality and output quality of your chosen device. To achieve an optimal examination result, ensure good sound attenuation. The microphone is only required for the HSKK oral examination.
2.7 Headset/headphones or mouse with Bluetooth are not permitted!
2.8 Make sure your devices are sufficiently charged to ensure that they do not shut down during the online exam.

3.1 In order to ensure the security and legality of the exam operation, you agree that Chinese Testing International Co Ltd / Third Party Chinese Test Center may collect exam-related information. This includes: Name, photo, ID card info and audio and video recordings during the exam. This personal data will only be stored and used by Chinese Testing International Co, Ltd to the extent permitted by law and for the purposes provided for by law (e.g. to ensure exam security).
3.2 To register, upload a recent portrait or passport photo that meets the following criteria:
3.2.1 The photo is not older than 6 months on the day of the exam.
3.2.2 The face must be clearly recognizable; images with hats, headscarves, hair accessories, sunglasses or other accessories are not permitted. Photos of candidates with religious beliefs are not subject to these restrictions.
3.2.3 Your portrait will be accepted as a black and white as well as a color photo, please make sure the background is white or light-colored! Cropped everyday photos, vacation photos or snapshots will not be accepted.
Note: The uploaded photo serves as the basis for biometric identification when entering the virtual examination room and for identity verification during the examination itself. If the identity verification fails due to an unsuitable photo, you will not be able to take the exam, the exam will be automatically canceled and the exam fee will not be refunded.
3.3 Register for the exam at www.chinesetest.cn within the specified date. Please select the option "Online Chinese Test (Home Edition)/居家网考 " in the selection box "Test format/考 试形式 " to find the correct test center and pay attention to the correct test date. Payment of the test fee is considered successful registration. If you have a problem with the registration, please contact us.
3.4 The exam is taken at a location in Austria, i.e. the examinee's location on the day of the exam is within Austria.

When taking the HSK exam "Home Edition" from level 3 to level 6, a corresponding HSKK exam must also be taken. The combined exams are

1. HSK level 3 with HSKK elementary level
2. HSK level 4 with HSKK intermediate level
3. HSK level 5 with HSKK upper level
4. HSK level 6 with HSKK upper level

4.1 Register 3 days before the exam with your personal access data at www.chinesetest.cn. The registration confirmation is available in the personal information center. Print it out and check the personal data (name, nationality, gender, type of ID, ID number, etc.) as well as the other details (name of the exam, time of the exam, name of the exam center, instructions, etc.). Keep your personal Admission Ticket in a safe place.
4.2 Please obtain your password from www.chinesetest.cn the day before the exam.
4.3 Important: A preparatory video conference will take place approximately 2 days before the exam. You will receive the information regarding date and time as well as the link in due time.

5.1 You will enter the designated online conference room approx. 50 minutes before the start of the examination.
5.1.1 To identify yourself, show your Admission Ticket and your ID card to your exam invigilator via the camera
5.1.2 Your exam invigilator will then ask you to provide a 360° panoramic view of your surroundings via the mobile device.
5.1.3 Place your smartphone or tablet behind you at a distance of at least one meter to the left or right so that we can see you and your computer screen at the same time.
5.1.4 Then connect your mobile device to the WIFI network and activate flight mode.
5.2 Click on the client "HSKExamClient.exe" right away. Attention: It is not possible to extend or postpone the examination time due to a delayed login, regardless of the underlying event.
5.2.1 Check your camera, headphones and internet connection
5.2.2 Examination login: Read the examination regulations and agree. Please enter the correct Admission Ticket number and password.
5.2.3 Biometric identification by facial recognition follows

Note: If your identity and exam environment are not verified in time or if there are defects, the exam will not be held and the registration fee will be retained.

6.1 The candidate must take the examination alone, independently and in a room suitable for the examination. No other person may enter the room during the examination. Objects that are not directly required for the examination (paper, writing utensils, books, notes, course materials, etc.) are not permitted.
6.2 The laptop/PC and keyboard must be visible on the table for the duration of the examination. It is not permitted to make notes or recordings of the examination! Neither on paper, nor by photo, electronic or other means.
6.3 In order to ensure the fairness and legality of the examination, an examination invigilator will be called in in addition to the
examiner. The examinee is obliged to be in the picture for the duration of the examination via his/her mobile device and the online conference tool uniMEET and to make the shoulder area visible via the camera.
The exam itself is taken on a laptop/PC using the online HSK/HSKK/YCT exam app. The laptop/PC, camera and exam software are also used for facial recognition and identity verification before and during the exam.
6.4 If the examination is not taken or completed for organizational reasons for which the examinee is responsible, the examinee assumes responsibility. An extension or postponement of the scheduled examination time is neither possible nor permitted. The registration fee will not be refunded in such cases.
6.5 If the examination invigilator notices unusual behavior, gesticulation, phone calls, etc. on the part of the candidate, a warning must be issued.
6.6 According to the "Measures for Violations of the Regulations of the Chinese Examination", the examination will be canceled if another person takes the examination on behalf of the examinee or if the examinee uses false, falsified or altered documents and photos. At the same time, a 2-year examination ban will come into force.
6.7 Chinese Testing International Co, Ltd and the local examination center reserve the right to pursue accountability for the examinee's violation of the regulation after the examination.

7.1. 10 days after the HSK/YCT exam or 25 days after the HSKK exam, you can check your test result via your Admission Ticket or at www.chinesetest.cn.
7.2 As soon as you see your result, you can also download your certificate and print it out yourself a maximum of three times.
7.3 To receive a certificate printed by the examination center, log in to the "Personal Information Center" of www.chinesetest.cn and click "额外成绩报告 ". Here you can order the certificate to be sent by post to your home address or to the local examination center. The candidate bears the shipping costs.
