BCT test

Vocational and Business Chinese Test

BCT exam, the Business Chinese Test, an internationally standardized test of Chinese language proficiency, evaluates the ability of non-native Chinese language learners to use the Chinese language in real business or ordinary work environments. The BCT exam is divided into written and oral exams, each of which is independent of the other.

The BCT written exam consists of two levels, namely BCT Level A and BCT Level B.

The BCT oral exam is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT) and is conducted via the Internet.

If you would like to take an exam at the Confucius Institute of the University of Graz, you must register before the registration deadline at on www.chinesetest.cn. The following 3 steps must be followed:

1. log in to www.chinesetest.cn and register for the exam. On the English webpage it is under "Test Taker".

Attention:

 

  • The size of the electronic photo is maximum 100 KB and in JPG format.
  • Please enter the correct personal data and the correct test level.
  • Under "Test Center" select "Confucius Institute of University of Graz" or test center code "7050300".

 

2. transfer the examination fee to the following account.

3. send confirmation of payment of the examination fee by e-mail to konfuzius(at)uni-graz.at.

BCT- Level A (exam code: BCTA): EURO 45

BCT - Level B (exam code: BCTB): EURO 65

After registration and payment of the examination fee, it is no longer possible to cancel the examination. Unfortunately, the examination fee cannot be refunded. However, you can change the examination date in compliance with the following regulations.

  • 27 working days (including 27 working days) before the examination, the examination date can be changed free of charge.
  • 10 to 26 working days (including 10 working days) before the examination, the examination date may be changed subject to payment of 30% of the examination fee.
  • It is not possible to change the examination date within 10 working days.

BCT Level A:

The examination time for BCT level A is 70 minutes, of which participants have 5 minutes to enter their personal data on the answer sheet.

The participants first write the solutions from the listening comprehension on the exam sheet. After the listening comprehension, the participants have 5 minutes to enter the solutions on the answer sheet.

The exam consists of 3 parts:

 

  1. Listening comprehension (30 tasks, 20 minutes)
  2. Reading comprehension (30 tasks, 30 minutes)
  3. Writing (10 tasks, 10 minutes)

BCT Level B:

The examination time for BCT Level B is 145 minutes, of which participants have 5 minutes to enter their personal data on the answer sheet.

The participants first write the solutions from the listening comprehension on the exam sheet. After the listening comprehension, the participants have 5 minutes to enter the solutions on the answer sheet.

The exam consists of 3 parts:

 

  1. Listening comprehension (50 tasks, 35 minutes)
  2. Reading comprehension (40 tasks, 60 minutes)
  3. Writing (2 tasks, 40 minutes)

The exams in the "Home Edition" form take place online. This means that participants can take the exams at home if they fulfill certain requirements. Requirements and important information about the "Home Edition" exams can be found under "Home Edition".

  • Identity card or passport
  • Admission ticket (you will receive this after registration)
  • Pencil (hardness 2B), eraser and ballpoint pen

As an exam participant, you can check the exam result 30 days (14 days for "Home Edition" exams) after the exam on the website www.chinesetest.cn by entering your name and admission ticket number.

As soon as you see your result, you can also download your certificate and print it out yourself a maximum of three times.

The certificate will be sent to the Confucius Institute at the Karl-Franzens-University Graz within 30 to 60 days after the exam. You can make an appointment by e-mail konfuzius(at)uni-graz.at in advance and collect your certificate on presentation of your passport.
